The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has announced the arrival of 172 stranded Nigerians from Uganda and Nairobi, Kenya under the special evacuation process put in place by the Federal Government due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In a tweet announcing their arrival, NIDCOM stated that they landed today, July 1, 2020 at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport at around 10.20 am on Air Peace flight B777-200 from Nairobi.
According to NIDCOM, some of the evacuees disembarked in Abuja while the remaining will proceed to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The exercise was put together by the Nigeria Mission in Nairobi, Kenya in collaboration with the Mission in Kampala, Uganda.
All evacuees are said to have tested negative to COVID-19 and will proceed on 14 days self-isolation as mandated by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Ministry of Health and Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.
