The Ugandan opposition leader, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly know as Bobi Wine, who contested against President Museveni in the January 14, 2021 presidential election and lost, has ordered his lawyer to withdraw a legal petition he filed in the court against the acclaimed victory of the incumbent president.
Bobi Wine withdrew the petition on Monday February 22, 2021, claiming that the court has shown enough evidence of bias in favour of the respondent.
He said, ” Today, we announced our decision to withdraw the election petition from the Supreme Court. The Court has manifested unprecedented bias, partiality and double standards. Declining our request to file evidence was the last stroke. We are taking the case to the Court of the People”.
“Ultimately, when all is said and done, the People of Uganda will have the final say on the destiny of their nation”, he concluded.
With the development, President Museveni’s victory at the nation’s last presidential election holds.
