Political thugs have destroyed ballots papers at polling units of Birnin Ruwa of Ramayana ward in Zamfara state.
It was gathered that the crisis erupted when suspected political thugs stormed the polling unit of Birnin Ruwa, chased voters out of the queue and snatched ballots papers.
Also, a commissioner for works was allegedly attacked at his polling unit in Gusau, the state capital.
It was revealed that the commissioner was involved in an argument with some opposition political thugs at his polling unit when one of them smashed his head.
With the security intervention, he was immediately taken away and rushed to a nearby clinic for treatment.
When contacted on the incident, the Public relations officer of the Nigerian security and civil Defence Corps, Zamfara state command, Ikor Oche said security was on top of the situation, however, the polling unit where the ballots papers were deployed was transferred to another nearby place but thugs did not allow the voting to continue as at the time of this reports.
According to him, State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Commandant Muhammad Bello Muazu in a robust synergy responds to distress calls in trouble polling units in the Gusau metropolitan area of the State.
Commandant MB Muazu and the Commissioner of Police, Yusuf kolo were at the State Stadium which housed about Seven polling Units at Sabon Garri ward of Gusau local Government Area in response to distress calls and to ensure a hitch-free and smooth conduct of the elections.
The duo were able to restore normalcy in troubled units and they also ensured that voting took place without fear and intimidation.
The State Commandant has displayed a high volume of collaborations with other sister agencies to achieve smooth conduct and hitch-free elections in Zamfara State.
