Representatives of Igbo Community in Oyo, Ogbomoso, Saki, Iseyin, Ibarapa, Okeho and Itesiwaju in Oyo State have announced what they called their unalloyed support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, declaring that he deserves a second term.
The Igbo community, after a meeting in Ibadan on Saturday, said that Governor Makinde’s unprecedented achievements within his first two years in the office have marked him out as an outstanding governor.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Relation (Igbo Community) Barr. Ike Kingsley, who announced the resolution of the Igbo community while speaking with journalists during the stakeholders meeting, held at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan, said that the governor has packed positively in the lives of all residents in the state.
Ike equally announced that the Igbo people in the geopolitical zones of the state endorsed Makinde for a second term in office adding, “We will do all that is required for us to ensure he contests and win the 2023 elections”.
He added that within two years in Office, makinde has changed the narratives as witnessed in the litany of completed projects being commissioned in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
He noted that the Igbo community also explained that the present administration in Oyo state has created an enabling environment for Ndi-Igbo’s business to thrive, adding that Oyo state remained largely and accommodating state.
“The non-discriminatory disposition of the present administration has shut ethnic cleavages, indigenes and non-indigenes which Ndi-Igbo form the largest population has been adequately carried along in government plans and programmes. We live and conduct our daily activities here and we are also great beneficiaries of the people oriented governance going on in Oyo state. Gone are the days when merit was sacrificed on the altar of mediocrity, just to massage the egos of some self-centered elements. The present administration includes all constituent population of the state into plans and that has led to expansion of the economy in the real sense”.
Ike said that the Ndi-Igbo in Oyo state is Strongly behind Makinde’s government and would support his visions and missions in his efforts to take the state to greater height.
“The last time we were here, we were able to see the Igbo community in Ibadan. But today, this is Igbo community in all the zones in Oyo State; Saki, Ibarapa, Eruwa, Ogbomoso, Oyo and the rest. All of them are here to also show that they are in support of Governor Makinde. And they are also here to further pledge their total loyalty for the governor for the 2023 ambition and even beyond. It is equally an opportunity to get them to show that the Igbos are in unity and ready to show support this administration. We are sincerely grateful to the governor. It is not easy. I want to assure him that we will give him our full support for him always”.
