A beautiful lady, Adaobi Chuma-Okeke, has expressed gratitude to God for spearing her life in a terrible accident that left her in a wheelchair 21 years ago.
Instead of throwing a ‘pity-party’ and wallow in self-pity, Adaobi, who was involved in an accident on June 9, 1999, took to Twitter to celebrate what she called a “Happy Lifeversary”.
She wrote, “I woke up this morning with peace and Thanksgiving…not a very normal feeling for a day such as this. A day most will say changed the course of my destiny – 09/06/1999.
“It’s 21 years today I had the accident.
“Didn’t think I would be here now… didn’t think I won’t still be walking by now but I am grateful.
“Grateful for life. I should be dead…I could have died.
“In fact I think I was clinically dead for a few minutes and I know I slipped into a coma but here I am today strong and alive.
“Outwardly…still a work in progress but inwardly at peace.
“Not because I have accepted to be in a wheelchair but because I know all is well and my Abba has got my back.
“So yeah, it’s 21 years of being in a wheelchair and battling with life.
“Have had my share of ups and downs…with life happening to me and not exempting me because I am on a wheelchair.
“With my joys and sorrows, loves and dislikes, optimisms and pessimisms, depressions and elations, despairs and hopes.
“But in all being ever grateful for life and clinging on to faith.
“To everyone who has been on this journey with me and those who joined, THANK YOU;
“You all have made it worth striving… for the love, support, encouragement and prayers… thank you. I love you all and indeed God put you all in my life to see me through.
“I have decided to celebrate this day and thank God for life So it’s a Happy Lifeversary to me. Would have thrown a party but not yet… things never mature.
