Magistrate O.K. Omotosho of the Oyo State Road Transport Management Agency (OYRTMA) Mobile Court, on Thursday August 20, 2020, handed out sentences to 41 traffic offenders apprehended in the state for violating various sections of the Oyo State Government Road Transport Management Authority Law, 2009.
However, one of the offenders, Sunday Okoronko, an okada rider, with plate number NRK 922 QH, was discharged and acquitted on humanitarian ground by the court on his plea that he was just sacked by his previous employer due to Covid-19 pandemic as a result of its adverse effect on the company’s revenue.
The remaining 40 traffic offenders were sentenced to between 2 weeks to 6 months.
According to OYRTMA, cases pertaining to 16 Motorcycles, 1 Tricycle, 8 Private Cars, 14 Micras and 2 Trucks(1 empty & 1 loaded) were treated.
The OYRTMA Mobile Court sit on cases of different traffic offences committed by both private and commercial vehicle owners across Oyo State.
