About 8 band personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) have died in a fatal accident that happened along the Kano/Zaria road in the early morning of Sunday, November 12, 2023.
The cause of the accident and the actual number of personnel who died were yet to be confirmed at the time of filing this report.
However, the Headquarters of the Service in Abuja has been thrown into a pensive and mourning mood following the tragic accident.
It was gathered that the Toyota 12-passenger bus was returning from Kano on Sunday morning after the band had performed at the Presidential Commissioning and Passing Out Parade of the 48th Superintendent Basic Course 2023 at the Immigration Training School, Kano.
The event was attended by the Acting Comptroller General of the Immigration Service, Mrs Wura-Ola Adepoju, and other top Management members of the Service.
The Band Officers were driven to Kano from the Headquarters and were on their way back when the accident happened.
Some video clips are circulating on Twitter showing the accident scene.
However, no fewer than 8 bodies of the victims were counted around the badly damaged Immigration vehicle, even as unconfirmed reports said all the band members died in the unfortunate accident.
