A final year student of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Rachael Opadele, and a hotelier, Olugbenga Owolabi, Proprietor of Tana Suites Ogbomoso, who were abducted by gunmen have been killed despite the payment of N5m ransom.
The victims were kidnapped in Abaa community, Ogbomosho on Thursday with their abductors demanding N100m ransom.
Racheal was a 500level student and was kidnapped at the hotel where she was working due to the ongoing ASUU strike.
It was gathered that the Okada rider, who conveyed a family member of the victims to the designated point for the ransom payment, was also killed while his passenger was injured.
A family source said after negotiation, the family arranged N5m which was taken to the gunmen on Tuesday, who confirmed the cash and shot the victims.
It was learnt the police have deposited the corpse at a morgue while the person who sustained gunshot injury, is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
The news of the alleged killing has sparked a protest in the town as students of LAUTECH and some town youths are currently staging a protest.
