The Senate of the Adekunle Ajasin University, (AAU), Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, yesterday approved the resumption of academic activities to commence Monday January 18, 2021.
According to a circular signed by the institution’s Acting Registrar, Opeoluwa Akinfemiwa, the Senate at its emergency meeting held on Tuesday January 12, 2021 resolved that students would resume on January 18, 2021.
The Senate said that the First Semester of the 2019/2020 Academic Session, which could not commence on March 8, 2020, would now be held for four weeks to allow for social distancing in the examination venues.
According to the circular, 300 to 500 level students would have their examinations during the First two weeks of the examination period that is slated for Sunday January 24 to Tuesday February 16, 2021.
The circular added that the 100 and 200 levels students would have their examinations during the last two weeks of the examinations.
Senate also directed that all students must comply with the Covid-19 protocols, which include: wearing of nose masks in all parts of the campus including lecture rooms, examination halls, hostels, the library and relaxation centres, maintenance of social distance, washing of hands at the entrance to the University, Lecture Halls, Examination Venues, and the Library and use of hand sanitisers at the various entrances to the University as well as lecture halls.
“That the current policies of no mask, no entry, no mask, no service would be strictly enforced while use of nose masks by the students would be enforced on campus. Finally, students are to ensure that they complete their registration for the semester 2019/2020 academic session as this will enable them to access the University facilities including examination halls”, the statement concluded.
