Justice Abiodun Adesodun of the Ado-Ekiti High Court, on Monday August 17, 2020, sentenced one Dele Ojo, 26 to death by hanging for killing one Ajayi Adewole, a farmer.
Against the frantic effort Barrister Yinka Oyeleke made in saving the life of his client, Justice Adesodun, in his judgement said, “You are hereby sentenced to death by hanging, may the Lord have mercy upon his soul”.
Earlier, during the hearing of the matter, The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Wale Fapohunda said the convict committed the offence on September 13, 2018 at Iroko Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti, when he murdered one Ajayi Adewole, contrary to Section 319 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. C16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
To prove that the convict shot the deceased at close range at the farm, Fapohunda called four witnesses, an I.P.O and a medical Doctor and tendered a Dane gun, photographs of the deceased, five tubers of yam the convict stole from the farm of his victim and confessional statements.
