Mrs. Kehinde Aikomo, wife of the Chairman of Afijio Local Government, Oyo State, on January 1st, 2025, welcomed the first baby of the year within her jurisdiction at the Ilora Primary Health Centre.
Mrs. Aikomo, who was warmly received by the hospital staff and expectant families, went round the maternity ward, and was introduced to the mother of the first child born in the community in 2025.
She presented a gift bag containing essential baby supplies, including clothes, diapers, and toys and cash to the baby who was born at 5.49 am.
Beyond the gifts, Mrs. Aikomo engaged the mother in a heartfelt conversation, offering invaluable advice on newborn care. She emphasized the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, proper hygiene, immunizations, and regular pediatric check-ups.
The delighted mother expressed profound gratitude for the gifts, and promised to take proper care of the new born baby.
The visit, a testament to Mrs. Aikomo’s dedication to maternal and child health and her unwavering commitment to community welfare, sets a compassionate tone for the new year.
