The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, today announced that President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a Yobe born police officer, Usman Alkali Baba, as the acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP) with immediate effect.
Baba is taken over from Mohammed Abubakah Adamu, who hails from Lafia in Nasarawa Area of the Northern Nigeria. Adamu reached a retirement age on February 4, 2021, the day his tenure was extended for three months, which is expected to be expired in May 4, 2021.
Since Buhari assumes office in 2015, he has been appointing Northerners to head the Nigeria Police Force and other sensitive security agencies.
