The Twins of the popular Muslim cleric, Sheikh Taofeeq Akeugbagold, kidnapped at gunpoint at his residence in Ojoo, Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital have regained their freedom.
The cleric announced this on his Facebook page early this morning.
He said: “ALHAMDULILLAH! AT 5.30AM OF SUNDAY 3RD MAY, MY ABDUCTED TWIN KIDS ARE RELEASED TO ME BESIDE A BUSH AFTER 8DAYS IN AN UNKNOWN LAND. THANKS TO U ALL FOR FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT, JAZAKUMULLAHU KHAIRAN. ABERE MI BO SINU OKUN, OLOUN YO PADA FUN MI”.
It was not disclosed whether ransom was paid but it was earlier reported that the kidnappers had demanded about N45m.
It will be recalled that the cleric had raised an alarm about the kidnap of the twins in a post on his Facebook page in the early hours of Sunday, April 26 2020.
He had made frantic appeals for the release of the children and his wife had also made an appeal for the safe return of the children in viral video.
