The Baasamu of Oyo, High Chief Lamidi Oyewale has revealed that the traditional rites otherwise known as rites of passage have been conducted on Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi 111, who died in the early hours of today (Saturday April 23, 2022), saying that the remains of the deceased is now ready for the burial.
In a short media interaction, the high chief stated that the deceased would be buried by 4pm today according to Muslim rite.
He further revealed that the remains of Oba Adeyemi would be interred at the ancient vault of Alaafin, located at Bara, in Oyo town.
Pending when a new Alaafin will be appointed, the Oyomesi led by Basorun of Oyo, High Chief Yusuf Ayoola, will be in charge of the palace and traditional system in the ancient town.
It was gathered that Governor Seyi Makinde has been officially informed of the passage of the foremost and highly cerebral king.
With this development, in the last four months, three foremost kings in the state have passed on.
Soun of Ogbomosho, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi, Ajagungbade 111, was the first to die. He died December 12, 2021 at 91.
Also, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Ajeogungunniso 1, died January 2, 2022 at 93.
