The District Superintendent of the West and Central Africa (WECA) of The Apostolic Faith, Rev. Isaac Adigun, has decried the harsh economic situation in Nigeria, stressing that things have never been this bad in the country.
Adigun stated this on Saturday, March 10, 2024, at the church campground located at Igbesa, situated in Ado/Odo Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, Nigeria during a programme tagged, “Faith City Tabernacle Flag-off Thanksgiving Service”.
The programme is the recommencing of the church Tabernacle where work has stopped for a while.
At present, the Church will construct the main Dome of the Tabernacle at the cost of N300 Million where it will hold this year’s camp meeting instead of the basement the Church has been using for the camp meeting.
Stressing that if not for the encouragement of God, the recommencing of the Tabernacle cannot take off considering the poor state of the nation’s economy, saying, “God knows that we need encouragement. Without that encouragement, we can’t do this. There is no way. Some of you and those who have joined us on the webcast know what is going on in Nigeria. Things are very difficult. It has never, ever been so difficult in Nigeria in terms of the economy. Some people are talking about a bag of cement when I was in Ekiti a few weeks ago they bought a bag of cement at the cost of N4000, and now it is about N13 000. Is this the time anybody would like to embark on a project like this? But this is God’s project, therefore, we are not going to bother ourselves with the nation’s economy. If we are considering the economy, we will say, let us wait. Let us stop. We can’t know how long we are going to wait. But this is a faith faith project. God started this in faith and it is faith that will nourish It is faith that will finish it in Jesus mighty name.”
The clergyman requested the church to change the name of the section of the Tabernacle from “Main Bowl” to ‘Main Dome”, stating, “It has been long we have been saying Main Bowl, go to the Main Bowl. We don’t play football here and it is not going to be a football field in Jesus name. May I make a humble request that will drop that label and start calling it Main Dome? What we are doing right now is to have the Dome covered. That is where we are starting from based on the professional advice of our people. So, it is the “Main Dome” of the main tabernacle.”
He congratulated the congregants for witnessing the occasion pointing out, “All of us need to know what we are flagging today. We are flagging Jesus. We are waving Jesus. That is our focus. We are all together congratulating Jesus for making you and l to be part of this day because He is the one that has made today. It is not me. It is not you. That is why we have to return to Him all glory, all honour, all praises, all adoration, and all majesty. Hallelujah unto his name. That is what we are here for. We have called that we should all come together to witness the resumption of the work that has been stopped for a while. The Lord God of heaven will honour his words, He will honour our faith, and He will do it in Jesus mighty name.”
Clarifying an impression about the Tabernacle, he urged all the church members home and abroad to be part of the building of the Tabernacle.
According to him, “The work of the building of the church did not stop. Never stopped. There are changes in strategies. There are changes in God’s directives. And we are known as a church that follows God’s directives. God has been directing all our leaders from one generation to another, from when Brother Timothy Gbadebo Oshokoya bought this place, God breathed into him. When Brother Josiah Olubode Soyinka took over, God breathed into him to teach us the work of God, and to make sure that we are strong in the words of God. And then Brother Paul Oge Akazue came in and he brought us here physically, God breathed into him. And brother Bayo Adeniran came in, and God breathed into him to do what God had helped him to do. But of course, we have other church buildings that must be completed, that must look good too, and God breath into him to look towards these churches. And you all saw that. In many places today, we have The Apostolic Faith Churches standing tall and beautiful. We praise God for that. It is that same God that is now refocusing us and saying look this way now. Has God’s building work stopped? Never. God has been building and He will continue to build. Yes, we are recommencing here by focusing here now but l think it is important for us to know that the work of God in building his churches has never stopped at any time in the history of our church in Jesus name. He, who has been directing is the one that is still directing. As a result, we give him all glory, all honour, and all adoration unto his name. God is good. God is great. Think about it. Who are you, who are mine, if not for good? We thank God and we glorify his name that you can see today, I can see today. That is enough to encourage you. Enough to encourage me that whatever has been stopped for a while, for whatever purpose through this occasion in the name of Jesus, they will recommence.”
