The leadership of Apostolic Faith Church in West and Central Africa (WECA), has ordered the church ushers against separating couples from sitting together in the church.
Answering questions at the ongoing Camp Meeting of the West and Central Africa of the Apostolic Faith Church at the 2022 Marriage and Family Seminar titled, “Managing Relationship in the 21st Century”, at Faith City, Igbesa, WECA District Superintendent (DS), Rev Isaac Adigun ordered, “Do not separate a husband and wife during the church service.”
Adigun said that it is simple courtesy to allow a husband and wife to sit together in the church, reiterating that once ushers see a couple coming, they should quickly look for a place where they can sit together.
His words, “Don’t separate couples. Members should go about with their wives. At time we don’t know some of us who are married and those who are not. Go about with your wife. Unless you are on the platform, unless you are working, unless you are like our ushers or workers sent here and there, you must sit with your husband or sit with your wife. We should come to the church with our wives and our husband. Ushers, don’t separate husband and wife.
“When there is one seat, ask the couple to wait and allow you to get two seats where they can sit together. It is a simple courtesy. if a couple is coming to the church and there is one chair in the first row, and another chair in the 3rd row, let them wait outside until you can get two seats together for them. Don’t let them come into the church until you have found them two seats for them to sit beside each other. Do not put somebody’s wife beside another husband. Do not put another wife beside another husband. We want to let our children know what practical Christianity is when it comes to what marriage is all about. There is no way you are like that, then at home, it is something else. Unfortunately for some people, what we see outside is not what is obtainable inside. Workers are excused from all these, but if you are not workers and you are coming to church let people know that you are married”, he concluded.
