The Appellant Court sitting in Akure, the capital of Ondo State has upheld the death sentence of the founder of Oduduwa University and owner of Hillton Hotel, Dr Ramon Adedoyin, who was found guilty in the murder case of the former MBA student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (OAU), Timothy Adegoke.
The court today said that the judgment by the Osun State High Court which sentenced Adedoyin to death stands.
The judgement read, “The judgment of the High Court of Osun State stands. Adedoyin’s appeal is dismissed in part. The Court of Appeal held that Adedoyin was properly convicted and sentenced to death.”
It also declared that the “Order of forfeiture of Hilton Hotel quashed and set aside. Order of education scholarship to children of Timothy Adegoke by Adedoyin and others quashed and set aside.”
It would be recalled that Adedoyin travelled to Ile-Ife to sit for an exam in OAU. Since he did not have accommodation in the town, he lodged at the Hilton Hotel belonging to the plaintiff and was found dead in November 2021.
