Some armed individuals in army camouflage believed to be agitators for the Yoruba Nation movement reportedly forced their way into the Oyo State Government Secretariat on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
It was gathered that the armed individuals were strategically positioned at various locations within the Secretariat premises.
Some were reportedly stationed at the Governor’s office gate, while others were observed at the House of Assembly Gate and the main entrance.
They also hoisted the Yoruba Nation flag at the House of Assembly.
Law enforcement agencies, including the Police Command and other anti-crime units, swiftly responded to the scene with patrol vehicles. Additionally, members of the Oyo security network known as Amotekun were deployed to secure various entrances within the Secretariat premises.
Reports indicate that a confrontation ensued between the security forces and the alleged agitators, resulting in gunfire exchanges and the use of tear gas.
