The Senate of the University of Ibadan (UI), today elected three out of six candidates that contested for the positions of Deputy Vice Chancellors (DVC) of the Premier University.
The three candidates elected are: Professor E. O. Ayoola, Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, Prof. Aderonke M. Baiyeroju, Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Prof. Oluyemisi A. Bamgbose, Department of Public Law, Faculty of Law, as Deputy Vice Chancellors in charge of Administration, Academic and Research, Innovation & Strategic Partnerships, (RISP), respectively.
At the conclusion of the Senate Election, Professor Ayoola scored 453 votes to clinch the position of DVC Administration against his rival, Professor K. O. Oluwasemire, of the Department of Soil Resources Management, Faculty of Agriculture, who scored 73.
Also, Professor Baiyeroju scored 326 votes to become DVC Academic against Prof. D. A. Adeyemo, Department of Counselling and Human Development Studies, Faculty of Education, who scored 200.
Finally, Professor Bamgbose, the new RISP’s DVC, polled 414 votes, against 112 polled by her rival, Prof. O. G. Arinola, Department of Immunology, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Medicine.
The total number of votes cast is 526.
