Bandits have reportedly kidnapped the former Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga (retd.), in Tsiga village, Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday at around 12:30 a.m., also left one person dead, while at least nine others were abducted. The assailants were said to have ransacked several homes, carting away valuables.
Eyewitnesses reported that the heavily armed attackers stormed the community, firing sporadically to instill fear among residents before executing their operation.
When contacted, the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, stated that he had yet to receive a full briefing on the incident but promised to provide updates soon.
“I am yet to be briefed on the facts of the reports. I’ll get back to you as soon as I get the details, please,” he said.
The latest abduction underscores the growing insecurity in the region, where banditry and kidnappings have become rampant despite ongoing security efforts.
