A 25-year-old operative of Amotekun was on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 shot dead by suspected bandits at Fiditi town, in Afijio local government area of Oyo state.
According to the Oyo state Commandant of the Amotekun Corps, Col Olayinka Olayanju (rtd), another Amotekun operative was shot by the suspected bandits during the attack.
In a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, Col Olayanju (rtd) said the suspected bandits numbering about 11 ambushed the Amotekun operatives at Living Farms in Fiditi.
He further stated that the operatives were escorting the staff to the farm when it was invaded by the armed bandits, adding that the other Amotekun operative that was shot, identified as Amao Yisau, survived and is receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Owode, Oyo.
Col Olayanju (rtd) said the deceased Amotekun operative, Suleiman Quadir, who left behind an aged father, a wife and a son has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
