Uganda’s main opposition presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi, otherwise known as Bobi Wine, has called on Ugandans to reject the result of the 2021 Presidential election declared by the Electoral Commission of Uganda.
Speaking after the electoral commission declared the incumbent President, Yoweri Museveni, winner of the election, Bobi Wine urged Ugandans “to reject the fraudulent result that electoral commission has announced with the contempt they deserve”.
Encouraging Ugandans “to be strong”, “to stand firm” and “not to lose their hearts”, he charged them to make sure that their “voice reign supreme” adding, “this is not the end but just the beginning of a large struggle for the voice of the people to reign”.
“I know that Museveni is using the military, cutting off the internet, cutting off all communication. He is trying to keep Ugandans in the dark and to make sure they operate and suppress the voice of the Ugandans. I call upon the people of Uganda not to accept Museveni’s illegality, to stand firm. We are looking at all non violent, all legal and all constitutional options on the table and that include peaceful, non violence and legal protest”, he assured.
Bob Wine had equally called the attention of the international community to the violation of his fundamental human right by Museveni’s government saying that as at the time of filing this report, heavily armed security agents have taken over his area and compound thereby blocking him from going out of his residence.
Bobi Wine, a 38 year old singer turned politician contested for the presidency of the nation under the National Unity Platform (NUP), while Museveni contested under the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
