A male Nigerian crossdresser, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju popularly known as Bobrisky has reacted to the barrage of condemnations that follow the “Best Dressed Female Award” awarded to him at the premiere of “Ajanaku: Beast of Two Worlds”, announced by a veteran Nollywood actor, Femi Adebayo.
Bobrisky, in a short video clip on X, pointed out that Nigerian women have no choice than to accept her as a female saying, “I was nominated by three female judges as the Best Dressed Female. Leave Uncle Femi Adebayo alone. Women have no other choice than to accept me as one of them.”
Bobrisky said this just as it has been made known that the Nigeria Police has invited Femi Adebayo for allegedly promoting homosexuals over the Best Dressed Female award he announced to Bobrisky.
Speaking, Bobrisky explained, “I want to address this once and for all. I went to my sister’s movie premiere. Ever since I attended the premiere, I have been getting a series of people coming out to question why Best Dressed Female Award was given to me. They are saying that I am not a woman. They are even coming for uncle Femi. Now, let me tell you, because, a lot of you are not there. We, that were there, we will tell you what happened there so you can stop insulting someone or judging them. Uncle Femi didn’t pick the winner. They already had judges that was meant to pick the winner for the most well dressed female. Uncle Femi was just to announce the winner. He wasn’t the one that picked the winner, he wasn’t part of the Judges. The judges were three females. Two of them left after we finished watching the movie. They were looking for them and they now saw Uncle Femi and they said, “o ya, e gba microphone, e announce eniyan to win (the organiser of the premiere only ask Uncle Femi Adebayo to collect microphone and announce a winner). He asked, who won? They said, Bobrisky. And he said Bobrisky? He just announced the name of the winner. So, you, going to his page to blast and insult him is unfair and not nice. Uncle Femi just took the mic to announce Bobrisky as the winner. Would he say he would not announce? Would he say no? So you guys saying that he sleeping with me is not nice. We need to be fair. That is the uncle Femi part.”
Justifying why he was the best for the award, he said, “I really looked so good. I think they said royal beast. A lot women at the occassion dressed out of the theme. I Bobrisky, I followed the theme. And I think that was what made me win the money. The theme of the movie premiere was royal beast. They didn’t say dress like a village beast. They never said dress like a mumu beast or wear anything. They just said this is the theme of this premiere, royal beast. I took my time, I called all my glamour team, my makeup artist, yes, my stylist, and told them let us follow this Theme because I want to win the money. And I went and they saw everyone of us, the female part, and I won. So, why is the noise? Why are people screaming? So don’t judge me.”
Regarding his crossdressing status, Bobrisky stated, “Some are asking if I am a woman or not. I am not here to argue anything. Respect people how they want to be addressed. That is number one. Even, without looking at my body, without opening my body to see anything, you need to respect people how they want to be addressed. I can see a lot of women coming out saying different things, I will not insult anybody. I love women. Women are the most powerful gender in the world. So, I am not coming here to say, oh, they are this, or they are that. You guys, you have no choice, you have to accept me as part of the sisterhood. Do you hear me? You guys have no choice. I am part of the sisterhood already. Deal with it. If you are angry that I won, I am sorry but not sorry because I won the thing. My makeup artist did a good job.”
Revealing that Adebayo has been summoned by the police, a popular Nollywood actress, Dayo Amusa said that Femi Adebayo confided in her that the Muslim society has been calling him and the police has invited him for questioning for presenting such award to a cross-dresser.
