Bollywood actor and television star, Sushant Singh Rajput, has reportedly committed suicide at his residence in Mumbai, India on Sunday.
The 34 year old actor was found hanging at his Bandra residence.
His demise came as a shock to many as this is the fourth death of a famous personality from the Hindi film industry to pass away in the past two months,
While Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor succumbed to cancer and Wajid Khan fell prey to the coronavirus pandemic.
Rajput’s domestic help had informed the police of spotting the actor hanging from the ceiling.
A forensic team has collected items from his room and the post-mortem would be conducted in Cooper and Bhabha Hospital.
According to police, he made the last call from his mobile to a friend, however, the timing has not been disclosed yet.
“It pains us to share that Sushant Singh Rajput is no longer with us. We request his fans to keep him in their thoughts and celebrate his life, and his work as they have done so far. We request media to help us maintain privacy at this moment of grief,” Rajput’s publicist said in a statement.
Condolences are pouring in from all quarters for the highly-talented actor who won several awards for his roles in movies like M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, PK and Kedarnath.
Rajput started his career with television serials. His debut show was Star Plus’s romantic drama, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, followed by an award-winning performance in Zee TV’s popular soap opera, Pavitra Rishta.
