Nigeria’s President, Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari has condemned his critics over his attitude to insecurity, saying that those who hold that he is tackling insecurity in Nigeria with double standard are not fair to him.
Buhari stated this today while featuring on interview programme with National Television Authority (NTA).
It would be recalled that non-Fulani Nigerians, has continued to accuse Buhari and his government of poor handling of attacks by Fulani herdsmen, accusing the president of treating Fulani terrorists with kid glove whenever they perpetuate dastard act.
While it is illegal for any Nigerians to carry arms and ammunition, Fulani ethnic group flagrantly carry AK 47 and other dangerous weapons without being arrested by the security operatives. These weapons, they use them to unleash terror on different parts of the country, particularly the South.
Responding to a question bordering on the President not tackling his Fulani kinsmen, who are terrorists in Nigeria, he said that those who hold such opinion are not fair to him, saying that he has dealt with terrorists terrorizing some Northern states.
Speaking on corruption, though, he admitted that it is not easy to tackle corruption in Nigeria, he pointed out that his government has done well in bringing corrupt politicians to book.
Buhari lampooned Nigerians for being forgetful saying, “Nigerians, I think, are very forgetful. I am very pleased that the majority of Nigerians think that this administration, under the circumstance, are doing their best but people who misappropriated funds are elected members either at state or federal level…You can accuse them or try to prove that when they were elected members of the House of Reps and they are given ministries and so on, they had only one house and maybe a wife but now they have several houses may be in Abuja, maybe in Lagos, so, rarely, if you try to work out their legitimate means, viz-a-viz their expenditure, they will be exposed”.
