The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Senator Fatai Abdulfatai Buhari, Barrister Sharafadeen Alli, and Dr Yunus Akintunde, the three are of candidates of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), winners in last Saturday’s Senatorial election.
Buhari was reelected for Oyo North Senatorial District, while Alli and Akintunde won in Oyo South Senatorial District and Oyo Central Senatorial District respectively.
The current Senator, Fatai Buhari won with 90,078 votes to defeat Hon. Akinwale Akinwole of the Peoples Democratic Party (APC) who polled 77,034 votes.
INEC Returning Officer, Professor Wole Olatokun of the University of Ibadan, declared at Ikolaba Grammar School, Ibadan, on Monday that APC polled 111,513 votes, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Joseph Tegbe scored 92,481 votes to come second and Kolapo Kola Daisi of Accord polled 33,641 votes to come third.
Akintunde defeated the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Candidate, Chief Bisi Ilaka and Accord Candidate, Engineer Dotun Nurudeen Faozey and other candidates.
Announcing the result, Professor Adeniyi Olatubosun said Dr Yunus Akintunde of APC polled 108,776 votes, Chief Bisi llaka of PDP has 101,213 votes, Engineer Nurudeen Faozey of Accord has 41,743 votes.
