President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the election process in Edo State, Nigeria, which led to the victory of the incumbent Governor, Godwin Obaseki, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Also, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State described the victory recorded by Obaseki and his Deputy, Philip Shaibu in the just concluded election as well deserved adding, “Well done to the National Campaign Council for Edo State of our great party, PDP, The victory is for the people of Edo State”.
In a statement signed by Shehu Garba, spokesperson to the presidency, Buhari stated, “I have consistently advocated for free and fair elections in the country because it is the bedrock of true democratic order. Democracy will mean nothing if the votes of the people don’t count or if their mandate is fraudulently tampered with”.
The President commended the people of Edo State, the parties, candidates and security agencies for conducting themselves responsibly.
