There are strong indications that President Muhammadu Buhari is rooting for the erstwhile President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to succeed him in 2023.
According to information filtering from the bigwigs in the All Progressive Congress (APC), there is no hope for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the other 23 Presidential aspirants under the ruling party.
It would be recalled that shortly after a Northern coalition had purchased the APC presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for the former President, Mallam Mamman Daura, President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew and leader of the Aso Rock cabal, paid a visit to Jonathan to woo him to contest the 2023 presidential election under the ruling party.
At the time of filing this report, Jonathan is still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Some northerners have vowed in the media that all would be done to return the former president to Aso Rock, saying that he is the only trusted southerners that could protect their interest and help to actualise the Fulani Agenda.
However, all the notable APC presidential aspirants are already looking for alternatives in case they lose the APC ticket.
A close political associate has recently revealed that Tinubu has plan B, which includes dumping APC for SDP to actualise his dream.
According to the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, “Yes, a lot has been said about SDP and Asiwaju. When we get to that bridge, we will cross it. SDP offered him a platform to become a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria years ago but for now, he is in APC and will remain there until circumstance dictates otherwise.”
