Following allegation of corruption and abuse of office, the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has been suspended.
Prior to his suspension, the EFCC boss was quizzed by a Panel led by Justice Ayo Salami (rtd) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for about six hours over corruption allegations, including living above his means.
After the interrogation, he was detained at the FCID in Area 10, Abuja.
Magu, a police officer, was appointed as EFCC boss on November 9, 2015 and on July 7, 2020, he was suspended from the office.
His appointment was shrouded in controversies as the appointment was rejected twice by the National Assembly. Poised by the Presidency to lead the commission, he was left to serve in acting capacity until his suspension.
At the time of filing this report, it was gathered that Magu has moved his things from his office in compliance with the suspension.
