The Chairman of Dejak Artistique Monumental Garden and Associates, Oladejo Victor Akinlonu, is dead.
Akinlonu, 59, died quietly inside his car parked along the road in front of his office around 7up, Alausa, Lagos on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.
He was an Artist and pioneer in blending Art with architecture, landscape beautification.
Born on November 15, 1963, he attended St Patrick’s College and Ondo High School, all in Ondo State. He had a diploma in marketing with the intention of becoming a salesman but the passion for creative arts made him to abandon the idea of marketing as a profession. He discovered the ingenuity for creative arts at a very tender age of seven while he began the practice 13 years later.
He came into public prominence in the 1980s as the pioneer of rubble stone landscape features. He was also known for his sculptures which can be seen at public places all over Nigeria and his landmark intricate designs on waterfalls, fountains and tombstones.
In 1990, he got the approval of the state and local governments to commence Dejak Artistique at the present location along the state secretariat, Alausa.
