Dr John Olatchy Momoh, the Chairman and CEO of Channels TV and President of the University of Lagos Alumni Association Worldwide, has been appointed the Chairman ad Interim of the Institution’s Governing Council.
This is coming on the heels of the appointment of the institution’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development Services, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, as the Acting Vice-Chancellor.
The appointment of the interim Chairman became necessary as a result of the crisis rocking the Institution, which led to the Federal Government asking the Governing Council chairman, Dr. Wale Babalakin and the Vice Chancellor, Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe to step aside.
One of the major tasks before Momoh is the ratification of the election of the new acting Vice-chancellor.
Prior to starting Channels Television, Momoh, a renowned broadcast journalist, worked variously as News Anchor, Senior Reporter and Senior Producer for Nigeria’s National Radio and Television Stations, Radio Nigeria and the Nigerian Television Authority.
He is a graduate of the University of Lagos with a B.Sc. (honours) in Mass Communication and a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy. In June 2013, he received the Lagos Business School’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
John Momoh has professional Diplomas from the UK’s Thomson Foundation and the University of Manchester. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Harvard Business School and the Lagos Business School. He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors and the Nigerian Institute of Journalism.
