In a bid to avoid the spread of coronavirus on its campus, the management of BOWEN University, situated at Iwo in Osun State has shut down the school for three weeks.
According to information received from the University, the management of the institution has ordered the students to leave the school in the next three days, saying that all hands must be on deck flush the virus out of the country.
In a circular to the students, signed by the Institution’s Acting Registrar, Sunday Ilupeju, the Management has approved 21 day vacation (in the first instance) with effect from Friday 20 March 2020 as a proactive measure against COVID-19.
The students were given between Friday and Sunday March 22 2020 to travel, with a provision of free transportation for the three days at approved times to Ibadan and Osogbo.
A student, who spoke to our correspondent said, “The school management summoned all the students today to a meeting. The meeting started at 5pm. In the meeting, we were told to go home. They said that the decision is taken to prevent coronavirus in our school. We were not expecting this. The information came suddenly. The students will start departing the school from tomorrow. I am leaving tomorrow”.
Likewise, Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo has directed the students to proceed on holiday from Friday March 20, 2020 until further notice.
