The Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, on Monday January 10, 2021, revealed that within 11 months, over 100, 000 Nigerians contracted Covid-19.
He added that within the period under review, the nation had 1, 300 deaths, stressing, “100,000 cases are not just numbers, the deaths recorded are people we must mourn. Health workers need to maintain a HIGHER index of suspicion at all times”.
He said, “To further increase access to Covid-19 testing, we would roll out rapid diagnostic test kits in five health facilities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),and will scale to other states from February this year”.
According to him, “On the 10th of January 2021, Nigeria crossed a total number of 100,000 #COVID19 confirmed cases. This is an important reminder to all Nigerians that we must work together to protect ourselves and our country. The virus is spreading quickly”.
