Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has created five specific centres for any suspected coronavirus case, which may need to be isolated for quarantine.
The centres are located at Ring Road State Hospital, Ibadan, Jericho Chest Hospital, Ibadan, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, University College Hospital, Ibadan and Military Hospital, Odogbo Barracks.
Speaking on the steps taken by the state government to prevent the deadly disease, Commissioner for Health, Dr Bashir Bello said that the government has also created a rapid response and monitoring department and disease surveillance and notification officers in the 33 LGAs and 35 LCDAs.
He added that the state government has approved the purchase of 10 new ambulances pointing out that three specialised ambulances would be dedicated for intensive care units and seven for each zone in the state.
