Chief Magistrate Serifat Adesina of the Iyaganku Magistrate Court, Ibadan has ordered the remanding of one Mustafa Afeez, 27, at the Agodi Correctional Centre, Ibadan, for allegedly murdered a two and half year’s old girl in Ibadan.
Adesina, refused to take the plea of the defendant pending the advice of the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and thereafter, adjourned the matter till October 7, 2020 for mention.
The accused, living at Olodo Area of Ibadan was arraigned on a one count charge of murder.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Olalekan Adegbite, who told the court that the accused unlawfully caused the death of a minor saying, “Mustapha was alleged to have thrown her into the Omi River, Ahoyaya Area, Olodo, in Ibadan. The child was alleged to have been missing in the area, before her body was found in the river the next day”.
The offence, according to Adegbite contravened Section 316 and is punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38,Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
