The Federal Government of Nigeria has described the news going round that it has declared a fresh lockdown to combat the spread of coronavirus in the country as a fake news that should be disregarded.
Debunking this fake news, the National Coordinator, Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu denied the purported news of any lockdown attributed to the Presidential Steering Committee On COVID-19, urging Nigerians to continue with their daily activities.
Aliyu stated, “We are aware of a fake a message that has been going round that we have declared a lockdown in the country, this is absolutely not true.
“I am calling on the general public to please ignore the message and continue with your normal activities.
“I am also calling on the public to make sure they abide by the regulations including wearing of facemasks in public, washing of hands and keeping physical distance.
“There is an established way that we send our messages out to the public when it comes to infections control, so please take note”.
