Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has declared that the ancient Ile-Ife city in Osun State, Nigeria is taking the spiritual step towards curbing the spread of coronavirus.
In a video clip on twitter, a group of town criers were seen announcing to the people that the ‘Oro’ Cult would come out between 6am till 8pm the following day to perform cleansing ritual.
The town criers urged the residents to stay indoors for their own good.
One of the town criers who prayed in Yoruba that there would not be any case of coronavirus in Ile-Ife said, “Coronavirus will not come to to Ile-Ife. We have been asked to inform you that from 6pm till 8pm tomorrow, ‘Oro’ cult will come out. They must not see anybody and no one should see them. Anyone who disobeys this order will face grief consequence”.
