The Oyo State Government, in conjunction with the University of Ibadan (UI), has, on Monday April 14 2020 flagged off the Oyo State Containment and Decontamination Project commencing from the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Ibadan.
Governor Seyi Makinde, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, noted the importance of the project as part of efforts to contain coronavirus in the state.
The Project’s Committee Chairperson, Professor Olanike Adeyemo, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research Innovation, and Strategic Partnerships), University of Ibadan, reiterated the need for religious leaders and owners of businesses in the state to take responsibility by going ahead with the fumigation of their premises.
She stated that her committee has developed a protocol, available in both soft and hard copies, which can be followed by anyone interested in embarking on fumigation, noting that organisations, Churches, Mosques, Hotels and Banks can contact the committee if they need technical experts to help them supervise the fumigation process.
She also noted that social distancing is not really feasible at ATM queues, therefore, Banks should supply wipes to clean the ATM keys before use. They should also provide mounted sanitizer dispensers at the ATMs for the use of their customers.
She pleaded that every one should take responsibility for fumigating their homes and that they can get small containers of the chemicals for this purpose.
