Senator Dino Melaye, who represented Kogi West Senatorial District at the 8th Assembly, has raised concern over the high level at which residents of Kano state have continued to flout the guidelines put in place by the government to fight coronavirus in Nigeria.
In Kano, the residents do not in respect the government’s order of social distancing as well as the stay at home order to curtail the virus as they indiscriminately cluster in thousands in the state.
Melaye, who wondered why the Kano State Government would allow the kind of gatherings in the state at this critical period that coronavirus is ravaging the country, urged the authority to step up the enforcement of the guidelines of covid-19.
In another development, the senator called on the government at all levels to be compassionate with the poor in the society adding, “My concern for the people or palliatives did not start with Covid-19. Let’s be compassionate with the have not in the society”.
He appealed to the government and the well-meaning individuals to assist the poor, who are the majority in Nigeria.
