Gbenga Daniel of All Progressive Congress (APC), has defeated Ajibola Kalejaiye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the senatorial election held last Saturday to emerge as the senator-elect for Ogun-East Senatorial District.
While Danie scored scored 115,147 votes, Kalejaiye scored 58,708 votes.
Declaring the result in Itoro Hall, Ijebu-Ode, the INEC Returning Officer said, “I, Prof. Christopher Onwuka, by the powers conferred on me, as the INEC Returning Officer for this election and having scored the highest number of votes, hereby declared Gbenga Daniel of APC winner of the election.”
Equally, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, currently representing Lagos West Senatorial District in the Senate, emerged winner of the Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly Poll conducted by INEC on Saturday.
Olamilekan polled a total vote of 112,887 to defeat his closest rival of PDP, Ganiyu Dada Obanibasiri, who scored 60,189 votes.
Also, Shuaib Afolabi Salis of All Progressive Congress (APC), Chief of Staff to Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun, won the Ogun Central Senatorial seat.
Speaking, Senator Olamilekan noted that though there were tensions before the election, God gave him victory adding, “I want to thank our governor for making my home-coming a success. I have tried twice, in 2015 and in 2019 to come home but failed.”
