The Management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Plc on Tuesday September 1, 2020, indiscriminately increased it various electricity tariffs, arguing that it was necessary to do so in other to serve the customers better.
IBEDC made the increment known on its twitter page, saying, “Public Announcement! Notice of commencement of Service Reflective Tariff”.
According to a statement from IBEDC, which bears no signature, the company displayed a Microsoft excel table containing increment of tariffs from September 1, 2020 to December 2025.
The table stated, “Dear esteemed customers, The Management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Plc hereby informs its esteemed customers that as parts of efforts to deliver excellence services, it will commence implementation of the Service Reflective Tariffs from the 1st of September 2020 as approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). The new tariff is commensurate and align with the quality and availability of power supply we have committed to each cluster of customers under the Service Reflective Tariff. Kindly find below the structure of the new tariff”.
This increment is, however, coming few day after NERC had assured Nigerians that the DISCOs would only embark on tariff review after due consultations with their customers.
