The Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has officially paid the N100million for the nomination and Expression of Interest forms to contest for the presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was disclosed by Abubakar Usman, special assistant on new media to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, who said on Twitter that a group, Project Nigeria, paid and picked the form on behalf of the minister at the APC Secretariat on Wednesday.
“The Minister of State for Education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajuiba becomes the first person to pick the APC Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the APC Presidential Primary as a group of Nigerians raised over N100m from where they purchased the forms for him,” Usman tweeted.
However, Nwajuiba is yet to officially declare to contest for the position.
This is coming despite his ministry’s failure to manage the education sector properly.
It will be recalled that unions in Nigeria’s Universities, including the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the non academic staff unions, have been on strike for several weeks.
