Dr Anuoluwapo Adepoju, also known as Dr Anu, was today arraigned along with her plastic surgery clinic, Med Contour Services Limited before Justice Mohammed Liman of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos state.
Dr Anu was charged for failure to comply with Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission’s (FCCPC) requirements in an investigation, as well as failure to appear and provide information and documents relevant to ongoing investigation, which is contrary to sections 33(3)(a) and 113(4)(a) of the FCCPC Act 2018 and was liable to be punished under sections 33(3) and 113(1) of the same Act, among others.
It would be recalled that Dr Anu’s clinic was sealed off by the FCCPC in April 2020 after complaints over the failed plastic surgery of popular Nigerian Twitter influencer and Instagram Big girl, Omohtee.
Apart from Omohtee’s case, Dr Anu is also under investigation over several allegations of botched plastic surgery, including allegations of a failed cosmetic surgery that led to the death of one of her client, Nneka Miriam Barbra Onwuzuligbo.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Justice Liman admitted her to bail on self-recognisance in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and adjourned till July 9 for the commencement of trial.
Death over plastic surgery hurts me. Why?
