Men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), have arrested 76 internet fraudsters in Port Harcourt, state capital of Rivers State, Markurdi, state headquarters of Benue State and Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom State.
The commission stated that it arrested 37 suspected internet fraudsters in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday April 8, 2025 in an operation code named “operation eagle sweep”.
Items recovered from them include different brands and models of exotic vehicles, smart phones, smart wrist watches, international passports, Automated Teller Machine, ATM cards of different banks and laptops containing incriminating materials and documents.
Also, on Tuesday April 8, and Wednesday 9, 2025, the commission arrested 25 suspected internet fraudsters at different locations within the Makurdi metropolis.

Items recovered from them include three cars, five laptops, 22 (twenty two) phones and three bikes.
In another development, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, the men of the commission arrested 14 suspected internet fraudsters at different locations within Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

According to a statement signed by the commission, the suspects were arrested at Ikot Akpanabia, Udoudoma, and the Nwaniba areas of Uyo in an intelligence-driven sting operation.
Three of the arrested suspects are undergraduates of the University of Uyo.
Items recovered from them include 26 smartphones, one iPad, three laptops, one wristwatch, and a black Toyota Camry car.
All the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
