In a bid to address the devaluation of naira, the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), today stormed the Sabo Area of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State to arrest operators of Bureau De Change (BDC), who are licensed by the government to buy and sell currencies.
The EFCC men, armed to the teeth indiscriminately arrested the BDC operators and showed their strength on the road as they flagrantly wielding their guns.
The operation led to commotion as the BDC operators confronted them, shouting “Ole”, thieves on men of EFCC, who scared them away with gunshots.
As of the time of filing this report, the number of operators arrested was unknown and EFCC is yet to release an official statement.
A BDC operators informed PrimeStar News that all the operators have closed their offices and will not open until it is convenient to do so.
It was gathered that EFCC have carried out similar operation in Enugu, and Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
