In a demonstration of its commitment to combating economic and financial crimes, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has restituted a total sum of $120,548.43 and ₦70,602,841.46 to victims of fraud from the United States, Spain, and Switzerland.
The funds, which were recovered from Nigerian fraudsters, were handed over as part of the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to ensure justice for victims of financial crimes, both locally and internationally.
The restitution underscores the commission’s resolve to tackle cybercrime and illicit financial activities, which have tainted Nigeria’s image globally.
According to the EFCC, the beneficiaries of the returned funds fell prey to fraudulent schemes perpetrated by Nigerian scammers, who exploited digital platforms to deceive unsuspecting individuals.
The agency reiterated its zero-tolerance approach to financial crimes and pledged to continue its crackdown on offenders.
Over the years, the EFCC has collaborated with international law enforcement agencies to track, recover, and return stolen funds to victims worldwide.
This latest restitution further cements Nigeria’s commitment to upholding global financial integrity.
Authorities encourage victims of financial crimes to report their cases, assuring that the EFCC remains steadfast in its mission to investigate, prosecute, and ensure justice.
