Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi today hosted Mr Femi Adeoye, the father of the boy who sneaked into the state from Lagos.
As part of move to appreciate Adeoye’s patriotic zeal, the Governor as appointed him a Covid-19 Ambassador in the state.
He was also given a “Letter of Commendation for Exemplary Conduct” dated April 30 2020 and signed by the State Governor.
Fayemi said, “This afternoon, I appointed Mr. Adeoye, father of the young man who sneaked into the state, as a COVID-19 Response Ambassador in Ekiti State. He will help to propagate the message as a member of the COVID-19 Task Force @Ekiti_COVID19 in the State”.
Adeoye had reported that his son was journeying from Lagos and stressed that he would not take the young man home because his house had no space where his son could isolate himself. He urged the authorities to take charge and keep his son under close observation, lest he leaves the state in jeopardy.
A security man had made a video of the man’s ordeal and insisted that the boy should follow his father home despite not ascertaining his covid-19 status.
In a statement, the Ekiti State Government had commended Adeoye, saying, “Mr Adeoye epitomizes the Ekiti ethos of selflessness, which places greater premium on the collective good of the society above personal and emotional considerations. This is the core of the Values Orientation policy of the Fayemi-led Administration”.
