The Government of Ekiti State has confirms the abduction of the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Chief Folorunso Olabode and a yet to be identified woman by suspected bandits.
It was equally gathered that a Councillor from Ilejemeje Local Government, Olatunji omotosho representing Iye Ward 1, who was with him was shot dead at a close range at the scene.
According to a statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation , Aare Muyiwa Olumilua, the incident was stated to have occured at about 7:00pm on Sunday April 26, 2020 when the commissioner was on his way from Ado-Ekiti to his hometown in Iye-Ekiti, Ilejemeje LGA of state.
However, the State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has mandated the security agencies to ensure their prompt and safe release stressing that all perpetrators of the crime would be brought to book.
Also, the Commissioner for Police in Ekiti State, Amba Asuquo, has confirmed that a team has already been dispatched, and are on the trail of the abductors, with a view to securing the kidnapped persons.
