The #EndSARS protests have continued in some cities in Nigeria despite the announcement yesterday, October 11, 2020 by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, dissolving the activities and operations of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), following massive protests that rocked the country.
As early as 6 am, protesters, who did not have faith in the IGP’s pronouncement, on Monday morning hit the Lekki Toll Gate section of the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos State, to resume demonstrations, leading to early morning gridlock as commuters and motorists on their way to work were on standstill.
Several workers abandoned their vehicles to join the protest.
At a point, when police arrived to try to speak to the protesters, they started chanting, “Where is Buhari?”, demanding for President Muhammadu Buhari to address them.
As at 12.20 pm, the protest was still ongoing.
The protesters have also blocked the road leading to the Murtala Mohammed International Airport.
