Erelu Bisi, the wife of the Ekiti State governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has condemned the high rate at which girls and women were being sexually molested in recent times.
Fayemi stated this while inaugurating the Ekiti Sexual Assault Referral Centre for emergency treatments and proper monitoring of victims of rape and sexual offences in the state, which is expected to provide succour for the raped victims
The facility named Moremi Ekiti Sexual Assault Referral Centre will give emergency treatments and care for sexual victims and will also offer legal aid for them, provides counselling and psychosocial support for the victims as well as other needed support that would accelerate healing process.
Urging the public to direct rape victims to the centre for immediate medical attention and counselling, she pointed out that the centre would be replicated in the 16 local government areas of the state.
